Caleb Chan makes music.
A composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, he seeks to create communal spaces through sound, pursuing both tradition and invention. His music has been described as textural, harmonious, and genre-blending.
With an aptitude to create music that reaches diverse audiences, his range of work spans feature films, television series, and independent projects. His scores include music for Boston Blue (CBS/Jerry Bruckheimer TV), North of North (Netflix/CBC), It’s Not Like That (Amazon), FOX’s Alert: Missing Persons Unit, LEGO DreamZzz, Nickelodeon’s Fairly OddParents: A New Wish and The Thundermans Return, CBC’s Allegiance, Sony TV’s Panhandle, Dreamworks’ Pinecone & Pony (Apple TV), Angry Birds: Summer Madness (Netflix), and Sam Raimi’s horror anthology 50 States of Fright, co-composed with this brother Brian. His score for indie feature A Safe Distance debuted at SXSW in 2026 to critical acclaim. Upcoming releases include Toei’s Hypergalactic (J.K. Simmons, Adam Devine, Elsie Fisher), and indie features Send The Rain.
Beyond scoring, Caleb has orchestrated and produced nearly 250 songs. His recent string arrangement for Olivia Rodrigo’s “bad idea right?” was featured in the highly acclaimed Bridgerton Series, marking his second appearance in the Shondaland Universe, following his Beyoncé and SZA covers for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story. As a long-time collaborator on the My Little Pony franchise, he has written the score and produced songs for the 2017 film, My Little Pony: The Movie (Emily Blunt, Zoe Saldaña).
He is a multiple award winner, including an ASCAP Award, Canadian Screen Award, Canadian Screen Music Award, SOCAN Achievement Award, four Leo Awards, and SOCAN’s 2024 Breakout Composer of the Year.
His other projects include collaborations with indie and pop artists across diverse genres. He is also a part of Heis, a project formed with his brother to create music that moves fluidly between worlds. Their latest album, Good Weather, was released in 2020 and is a collection of neoclassical and ambient instrumental music.
Caleb holds a masters in composition degree from the University of Toronto and serves on the board of directors of the Screen Composers Guild of Canada.
